My Vision - Chapter Five

In this section, decision making and teamwork, the author states that team decision making can help to make the group work more closely together. It also improve the motivation and the performance as everyone in the team seeks to contribute to achieving the best for all. I was touched by the author when he said that Dubai government does not proceed any project unless it has reviewed by a very expert team. The reason behind being touched with this vision is I see that Dubai embraces many successful projects on the the reality ground.

Source integration- Foxdale Trip

Based on the Foxdale interview information with one of the Foxdale resident that I met last month, who was the Dean of Library System at Penn State, she mentioned that the library system in the mid twentieth century were required to provide more space for books and readers. Early libraries were small and inside buildings rather than entire structure. Moreover, the early libraries were depended in physical research for books and sources, and the technology system were not implemented at that time.
I started looking for information to compare the differences between the university library system in the past and the present. I found that the current university library system is more sophisticated and the students are able to begin their research by accessing through electronic system using their student ID and password. “Students are able to access newspapers, magazines, books, scholarly journals and more with the search engine” (Cited in Hricik, 2011).

My vision - chapter Four- Management

The Arab world facing a crisis of management not of money or resources.

Good management requires a capable manager that can lead people out of crisis.

The main goal of management is to choose the best policies and decisions and convert them into targets.

The relationship between the leadership and the people is similar to that between parents and children.

Routine and laziness are the most enemies of the development.

A leader conceives a vision and outlines a strategy to implement it, while the manager is a link in the implementation process.

My Trip to Voxdale village

This week I had an opportunity to visit the retirement community at state college to find out more about the resident's life and their experiences. This trip allows me to meet older adults to learn more about their elder's life experiences, travel, interests and advice. I had a facsinating conversation with one of the residents Ms Nancy who was the Dean of Library System at Penn State. I think these trip is building new connection with new friends which helps us to see the world more clearly as I had a brief look through Ms Nancy life and experiences.

The Americana, p 1-21

This week I had opportunity to read few pages from the Americana. It was interesting to me because I looked into the author way of writing the single story when she introduces different character in depth, such as The Infemelu city in Princelton, and also when she observe and talk to variety of people. The author from Nigeria and has been living in United States for 13 years. What surprised me that the way she writes blog on race and how she present the hair issue as an example, and connected to the main idea. The story and dialog was interesting and easy to me to understand with some new vocabulary words which I learned.
